The full list of 22 JSE Claim It participating companies

1. Old Mutual Limited

One of Africa’s largest financial services groups. Unclaimed dividends typically come from historic life insurance policyholders who also received shares, or from BEE schemes like the Old Mutual Black Authors investment plan. Many retail shareholders from the late 1990s and early 2000s have unclaimed dividends in Old Mutual’s share account.

2. Sasol Limited (Khanyisa & Inzalo BEE schemes)

South African petrochemical giant. The Khanyisa and Inzalo BEE schemes gave millions of ordinary South Africans Sasol shares at preferential rates. Many participants have lost paperwork over the years or moved without updating their share registrar details. Sasol has been one of the largest dividend payers in the campaign.

3. Naspers Limited

Media and internet group (owner of MultiChoice, Takealot, etc.). Dividend accumulation often comes from long-term institutional holdings or from people who inherited shares without realising. The Naspers share registrar, Link Market Services, handles all unclaimed dividend claims.

4. Vodacom Group (YeboYethu BEE scheme)

Telecom giant. YeboYethu was one of the largest BEE schemes in South Africa, allowing ordinary South Africans to buy Vodacom shares at preferential rates. Many shareholders have unclaimed dividends accumulating since the scheme’s inception. Vodacom has been actively encouraging YeboYethu shareholders to claim their entitlements.

5. Growthpoint Properties

South Africa’s largest listed REIT (real estate investment trust). Dividends are paid quarterly and accumulate if the share registrar loses contact — common with inherited shares or shareholders who moved without updating their address.

6. Northam Platinum

Platinum mining company. Historic employee share schemes and BEE structures have left many former workers and community members with unaccounted-for shares. Particularly affects communities around the Bushveld Complex.

7. Cashbuild

Building materials retailer. Often has unclaimed dividends from former employees or from community investment schemes. Smaller in scale but still a significant participant.

8. Super Group

Logistics and mobility company. Includes former employees and BEE scheme participants. Dividends paid quarterly and held until claimed.

9. Advtech

Education technology group. Investor base includes historic shareholders and BEE participants. Dividends accumulated if contact details go stale.

10. Reunert

Diversified industrial and electronics group. Holds unclaimed dividends for former employees and historic shareholders.

11. Mpact

Paper and packaging company. Combines unclaimed dividends from former employees and BEE scheme participants.

12. Finbond

Microfinance lender. Smaller dividend pool but historically significant for participants in their share schemes.

13. Quilter (formerly Old Mutual Wealth)

Investment platform. Holds unclaimed dividends from investment-linked products and historic share schemes.

14. Merafe Resources

21. Sanlam Life Insurance Limited

Separate entity from Sanlam Limited with its own pool of unclaimed dividends from historic policyholders.

22. African and Overseas Enterprises Limited

Investment company. Smaller dividend pool but participates in the campaign to reach as many shareholders as possible.

FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

My company isn’t on this list. Should I still check?

Yes. The campaign is still expanding. Even if your company isn’t listed yet, you can check directly with the company’s share registrar or through the JSE’s main portal.

I worked for a company years ago but have no documents. What can I do?

Start the claim anyway. The JSE team will tell you what you need. Many records are still accessible in 2026 even for older schemes.

How much money is typically involved?

Varies widely. Some people claim R$200, others R$50,000+. The R$18+ million already paid out is distributed across 15,000 successful claimants, so the average is around R$1,200 per person.

Can I claim for a deceased family member?

Yes. You’ll need Letters of Executorship from the Master of the High Court and a certified death certificate. The process takes a little longer but is the same free campaign.
